Eve is a petite, blue-fawn brindle and white particolor bitch who came to us from our friends Lanny & Mick Morry at Avalonia Whippets. Eve is one of eight beautiful and typey whippets born on Halloween 2004 in a litter sired by Can Ch Avalonia Wotta Jesta ("Nev") out of Eng Can Ch Nevedith Ceefa Ceely ("Ceely"). Both Nev and Ceely are products of whippet lines established by Nevedith Kennels, one of the most highly regarded whippet kennels worldwide.
Eve has combined the best of both her sire and dam and has that characteristic free whippet movement that is the hallmark of a well-constructed whippet. Color and markings aside, you can certainly see her dam's stamp on Eve when she is on the move. To that end, Eve easily finished her Canadian Championship title in 2006 in a very few shows, taking multiple Best of Breed wins and Group Placements in the process, including wins under well-known and respected judges from Canada and England. Although she now only makes rare appearances in the show ring, when she does, she continues her winning ways. These days, however, she devotes the majority of her time to gracing the sofa, with occasional sojourns into the whelping box. In late 2006, Eve was bred to Can Ch Frontrunner's Full Monty ("Monty") (Dk Swed Ch Nevedith Veefa Vagabond x Int Ger Dk Wld Ch Honey Honey du Tadjoura). Monty was bred by Rudi Brandt and hails from Frontrunners Kennel in Denmark and is himself the product of Nevedith lines on his sire's side and an international world champion dam. The breeding between Monty and Eve produced a tightly linebred pedigree and four (3 dogs, 1 bitch) puppies of exceptional quality. The bitch from that litter, Can Ch DuMond Celtic Clare ("Clare") has remained here with us at DuMond. One of Clare's littermates, DuMond Carpe Diem ("Cullen") is with our friends at Avalonia and we anticipate that Cullen will have a bright future in both the show ring and as a sire. In February 2008, Eve was bred to our co-owned black and white boy, Ammardan DuMond Avalonia ("Andy"). The resulting litter born April 21, 2008, our first "black and white" litter proved that the melding of Andy's well-established American Sporting Fields line and our English/European dominated bloodlines was a good idea indeed! We were very pleased with all of the puppies in this our "E Poets/Playwrights" litter and DuMond Ernest Hemingway ("Hemi") has remained here at DuMond, and his sister DuMond Elizabeth Barrett Browning ("Elise") is co-owned by us and our friends at Avalonia. Elise will be quite the jetsetter and will divide her time between DuMond and Avalonia (as her schedule permits)! We are hoping to breed Eve for what we anticipate will be her final litter in late 2009.
