DuMond Whippets

Although I have always thought that I had a preference for the bitches (some might go so far as to say that they are more in keeping with my own personality ),  the truth of the matter is that to know a male whippet is to love him and I generally tell folks who contact me about whippets (and who don't have a strong preference for one gender over another) that the males are usually sweeter, more loving and easier to train than the females (but the girls are smarter!).

All of that being said, when I had the opportunity to visit Nevedith Kennels in England to meet and spend time with Nev and Edith Newton and to bring home a male from their "Hfa" litter sired by Eng Ch Nevedith Justa Jesta, I did not hesitate to make my plane reservations.  And so it was that in December, 2002, Can Ch Nevedith Hfa Hanky Panky, SC came to reside at DuMond.  Hank is such a sweet and easygoing whippet that I started to think that maybe having another boy (or two) around wouldn't be such a bad thing!

We next brought (in partnership with our friends at Avalonia) Andy (Ammardan DuMond Avalonia) home to DuMond.  Andy allowed us to introduce new elements to our breeding program--the American Sporting Fields line and black and white whippets!  Andy now spends most of his time in Canada at Avalonia, but he makes periodic treks from Canada to DuMond to spend a few months 'south of the border'.

In 2008, Andy sired a litter for us out of our girl Eve (Can Ch Avalonia All Hallow's Eve) and from that litter, we kept Hemi (DuMond Ernest Hemingway) here with us at DuMond.  Hemi is currently at the beginning of what we hope will be an illustrious show career and we expect that he will also sire some wonderful whippets in the future.

Please visit Hank, Andy and Hemi's individual pages for more information and photos.
